The original model Lincoln Continental was once rated as one of the most exquisite luxury car designs from the pre-world war II era. Ford's Lincoln division continued to manufacture the Continental for model years 1946 to 1948.

In 1938, car designer Eugene T. "Bob" Gregorie was asked by Edsel Ford to sketch out an elegant convertible. Using the blue prints from the Lincoln-Zephyr, Gregorie made some slight changes and the "Continental kit", also known as a "Bootie Kit" was born.

The outcome could be regarded as a spin-off of the Zephyr, with the running-boards removed.

The elegant 1948 Lincoln Continental convertable was designed with highly detailed interior trim and was recognized as a "Full Classic" by the Classic Car Club of America.

This photo of the Continentals intricate steering wheel, chrome bezels and gold plated gauges show just how far car designer Eugene T. "Bob" Gregorie went in perfecting this master piece.
