Cristian Mijares

We were fortunate enough to meet Mexican Super-fly weight Cristian Mijares in his home town of Gomez Palacios Durango Mexico. The soft spoken champion showed us around his gym located in Gomez Palacios and the place was packed with young fans trying to be like their Boxing King Mijares. Every where we walked, people greeted this boxer, after all he is a recognized world champion.

On June 3, 2006 Mijares knocked out Adalberto Davila on six rounds for the Mexican super-flyweight title. On September 18, 2006 he defeated Katsushige Kawashima for the vacated WBC world interim title, by a split decision. The Official scorers saw it 114-113, 113-114, 114-113.

On April 14, 2007 Mijares defended his title by beating Jorge Arce by unanimous decision in a particularly bloody match for Arce, who saw his first defeat since 1999. Mijares won the fight by a wide margin, with the official judges scoring the match 119-109, 118-110, 117-111, all in favor of Mijares.[1] He defended it a three more times against Teppei Kikui, Franck Gorjux and Jose Navarro.

Cristian Mijares is definately a born winner. Our Salutes to this pro from Pancho Villa's home town, Gomez Palacios Durango Mexico. Que Viva Mexico!!!!
