Sports Academy is proud to announce the grand opening of its new state of the 11,000-square-foot mixed martial arts & sports & conditioning training center located in Riverside, CA. Sports Academy is home to professional athletes involved in MMA, boxing, kickboxing football, volleyball, rugby, and basketball.

CEO and President Aumauinuuese S. Puni has combined forces with elite trainers and consultants to provide the highest level of mixed martial arts training along with sports and conditioning training for its members. Puni is a 4th Degree Black Belt in Sin Moo Hapkido, with training directly under Grandmaster Ji Han Jae. And is a First Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. Puni has developed a specialized program which is known as Athletic/ High Performance training. Dan Saleaumua (NFL), Jesse Sapolu (NFL) and US Olympic Volleyball player Allen Allen are a few high profile clients of this program.

The fierce mixed martial arts training program at Sports Academy is lead by Coach Franklin Aguirre. Franklin is a longtime veteran of MMA and is the tournament director for the infamous Gene LeBells World Grappling Challenge. Aguirre’s fight team is lead by light weight (155lb) Gladiator Challenge & Titans of the Pentagon (Costa Rica) welterweight (170 lbs) Champion Saad Awad and 145lb Gladiator Challenge Champion Richard Schiller.

Sports Academy has strategically partnered and formed a strategic alliance with elite training facilities including the all new North Town Gym which will open in January of 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada. North Town Gym will be lead by former IFL Striking Coach Joe “Striker” Hanlin and Karate Hall of Famer Sifu Joe Solis. Las Vegas, NV is a mixed martial arts hub and home to professional fighters from around the globe. The alliance between the two “fighter friendly” training facilities will increase fighter development, while elevating the bar for mixed martial arts training facilities.

About Puni Aumauinuuese:

In the 1990's Puni Aumauinuuese trained, consulted, and rehabilitated athletes in universities affiliated with the PAC 10, WAC, MWC and BIG 12. Other clients include athletes playing for the NFL, NBA, and MLB in the United States. On the international front, Puni has contributed to athletes involved in rugby in New Zealand, American Samoa and Samoa. In 1997 Puni was honored to have one of his clients earn a Super Bowl ring. Puni credits his valuable experience from various coaches, trainers, and sports medicine experts from UCLA, USC, Purdue, Tennessee-Martin, Mississippi State, University of Mississippi, State of Oregon, Vanderbilt and more.
