Valentine’s Eve Massacre

Wargods and Ken Shamrock Promotions came together February 15th, 2009 to put on the an exciting MMA fight promotion.

Titled the Valentine’s Eve Massacre, Wargods and Ken Shamrock Promotions both joined forces to create an action packed night for those in attendance at the Selland Arena in Fresno, California. The two promotion companies make a perfect fit and have begun to create an unstoppable force in the world of MMA.

Wargods and KSP promotions are currently working together to run a series of MMA events in 2009. The fights will include the industries most skilled and talented fighters with MMA legends Ken Shamrock, Tank Abbott, BJ Lacy, Mike Moreno, Tonya Evinger and many more.

Wargods and KSP faced several challenges leading up to the event. The promotion was originally set to have 12 scheduled fights. However due to uncontrollable factors, only 8 fights took place.

The California Athletic Commission would not clear Tonya Evinger’s fighting opponent.

Wesley “Cabbage” Correira was suspended and did not fight Lion’s Den Heavyweight Buddy Roberts. Kyacey Uscola’s opponent BJ Lacy injured his knee days before the fight and could not compete. And Jen Tate who was scheduled to fight Jen Babcock called in hours before the fight and was unable to make it due to an accident. Fortunately the fans were able to see the much anticipated Ken Shamrock and Tank Abbott bouts.

A confident Ken Shamrock entered the cage against Ross “The Grizzly” Clifton, quickly dropping Clifton in the 1st round and submitted him moments later.

Tank Abbott fought Mike Bourke and quickly knocked him out in round one.

Rick “The Holy Terror” Reeves defeated Nathan James via submission using a rear-naked choke in round three.

Mike Moreno defeated Gary Padilla by unanimous decision.

Ashe “The Archer” Bowman kept the pressure on Isaac De Jesus but lost via unanimous decision.

David “Tank” Abbott defeated Mike Bourke via knockout (punches) — Round 1

Mike Moreno defeated Gary Padilla via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Rick Reeves defeated Nathan James via submission (rear-naked choke) — Round 3

Isaac De Jesus defeated Ashe Bowman via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Zolia Frausto defeated Karina Hallinan via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)

Ron Kessler defeated Darren Freeman via split decision (27-30, 30-27, 29-28)

Josh Haynes defeated Refael Del Real via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 30-27)
